Got to keep up with the web. Here is a collection of pages I've bookmarked.
Market shareInteresting projection of browser market share for the top three - the IE decline continues, while Firefox and Safari are on the up and up. Good stuff!
Design is a must haveThanks to Web Resources Depot for noting Design as a must have bookmarklet! It is amazing what you can do with a bookmarklet, as shown by the other excellent bookmarklets in the list
New Opera experimental buildOpera labs have just announced a new build with Video, 3D canvas and File I/O. Good to see work on these project progressing
Processing 1.0Congratulation to the Processing team, who have just announced v1.0 of their superb art visualisation software
Draw your pageThis is something along the lines of what I have been thinking of recently - draw your web-page and have the HTML/CSS generated for you. Not perfect (yet) but certainly very cool
Doom in FlashDoom (the legend that it is) gets ported to almost everything these days - now it is the turn of Flash 10. Play Doom in your browser - nice!
Moonlight (Silverlight for Linux)Moonlight has now gone public beta - I cannot imagine that this will fly well with Linux users, but we need to question what we can do to keep developers working with the open web
Defensive designWhen creating a product (be it software, hardware, a service or anything else), you should always protect the end user from themselves
After IE8 Beta 2The IE team detail what they expect to do now that Beta 2 is in the wild. RC and then release apparently (sounds reasonable!) - we can expect IE8 Final mid-2009
AIR 1.5Adobe have introduced Adobe AIR 1.5 at Adobe MAX, which includes Flash 10 capabilities and a Webkit update (among other goodies). AIR is a fantastic tool to work with and looks like it is only getting better
Bad businessEveryone has a different view on what a successful business is. Eric from smashLAB shares his thoughts on how smashLAB do business - ethical, enjoyable and getting the job done - sounds good to me!
Next gen. interface - the CLIInteresting agrument in favour of the CLI making a come back (if not exactly in its original form). Sounds good to me - we just need to present how to use the interactions well
State of the Open WebOverview talk on what the Open Web is and why we should all get involved - nothing really new if you know your stuff already, but a great introduction to "next generation" web-development
FireworksThre is nothing quite like a good fireworks show! Great collection of firework photos here
Lessons from building iPhone siteThe flickr blog has an interesting article about what they learned from creating a site for the iPhone. Lesson 1. Do not use a Javascript library or CSS framework!
Overcoming wrap rageAmazon have just announced their "Frustration-Free Packaging" initiative which sounds like a fantastic idea to me. Now if only CD and DVD makers would get on board with this!
