Got to keep up with the web. Here is a collection of pages I've bookmarked.
Solar eclipseVery little is simply as powerfully awesome as a solar eclipse. A great collection of photos here.
Learn for yourselfLibraries and packages are great - but unless you get your hands dirty you will never actually learn.
Selling servers to OperaDoh - if you are going to be stupid enough to include javascript such as if (is.opera) window.location.href="config/error.htm";, do not send your servers to Opera...
Web advertisingWe all deal with web advertising - we see it day in day out (and learn how to tune it out). Here is a great story of the downhill slide one advertising campaign took.
DataTables for GlowOnly about three hours of work to port DataTables over to the new Glow framework from the BBC. Nice library, good to work with.
Redesigning the dollarFun competition with interesting entries - how would you redesign the dollar notes? Swiss and the new Scottish notes are great examples of well designed currency.
Calling out the hackersVery interesting post from Benjamin Pollack regarding StackOverflow.com. Someone suggested it could be done as open source over the weekend. Sure, if you are willing to sacrifice the user experience.
Two programmersPlay the game and make progress through it, or do it your own way (which can be much better) and suffer for it? Great post - makes you think.
Glow from the BBCA new Javascript library from the BBC which promises wide compatibility with legacy browsers. Good open source effort from the BBC, and given that it is driving bbc.co.uk - you know it does what it says on the tin!
HTML video v Flash videoSo HTML5 will have Audio and Video tags - great! We need them. But here is the view of the flash developers. "Tell me which you would rather deal with as a programmer". Nuff said.
YUI GBS changesThe YUI team do some truly excellent work, and one of those pieces of work, has just been updated. Their GBS grid is an excellent guide for web-developers as to what they could (should!?) be targeting.
Firefox 3.5What is in a name? Firefox 3.5 brings a lot of new features to the web for developers to play with. Excellent work on getting this out guys!
